Count Microsoft's search engine Bing as the latest company to drop proprietary plugins for HTML5. According to Search Engine Land, the company has made a significant shift with its Webmaster Tools admin interface. The new version of the app no longer requires Microsoft's Silverlight plugin to view detailed charts and graphs on website information, delivering them via HTML5 instead.
Bing also has a customer-facing interface powered by HTML5 and including some slick animated touches that they have demoed. Although an actual launch date for that new version of Bing is not yet known, it promises to help get Microsoft's search engine some publicity when it does.
