EightBit, an app which offers the chance to recreate yourself in Nintendo-style pixellated form and then interact with other peoples' avatars, has prepped a SXSW-timed launch reminiscent of Foursquare's. The only difference is that this year's app is built entirely in HTML5, making EightBit another step forward in native, browser-based games that make use of new standards-based technology.
"At launch we wanted to show the power of HTML5 and mobile devices. The entire application looks/feels native but is entirely rendered in the browser," says company co-founder Courtney Guertin.
