Although they might not be a name you associate with browser development, Ericsson demoed a prototype browser at the Ericsson Business Innovation Forum in California this week geared at mobile devices. The browser reportedly features support for real-time streaming of HTML5 audio and video, with an eye towards developing functionality for video chat and video conferencing.
According to Martin Körling, the company's head of services and software research, Ericsson doesn’t necessarily want to compete in the browser space. Instead, the company is working with developers such as Mozilla, Opera as well as those behind the Webkit Project to get the new ideas included in future Web standards.
