Although Netflix has long offered its popular streaming video service via Microsoft's Silverlight plugin, the company is preparing to launch a plug in for Chrome OS which will be "based on HTML5 standards."
The Netflix Chrome plug-in was first mentioned in December of last year by John Ciancutti, the company's VP of Personalisation Technology.
"The technology is delivered from Netflix servers every time you launch our application," Ciancutti said. "This means we can constantly update, test and improve the experience we offer….Our customers don’t have to go through a manual process to install new software every time we make a change, it ‘just happens.’"
